Phase 3: The End of The Revolution
After the very brutal Reign of Terror, the end to the Revolution is near and also near the end to my website, idk what else to say lol hoped you liked my website though :D
In 1795, The CPS decided that they didn’t want another Robespierre situation. So what they did is that they established the French Directory. The French Directory said that France is going to be governed by 5 directors that are chosen by the Council of Five Hundred which are ruled by the bourgeoisie. The problem though, is that the French Directory was troubled by war, economic problems, and opposition.

On November 1799, many political leaders sought to overthrow the Directory. For this, they turned to Napoleon Bonaparte, who had became a hero due to a military campaign in Italy from 1796 and 1797. Napoleon managed to overthrow the Directory in a coup de’tat and made the Constitution of 1799 which established the French Consulate. Later in 1804, he made himself the emperor of France, marking the end of a 12 year revolution.
